Robinson Club GmbH, a subsidiary of TUI AG headquartered in Hanover, is the German quality and market leader for resort holidays within the premium segment. The portfolio currently contains 23 club resorts (22 from summer 2014) in eleven countries with a capacity of 13,000 beds.
Founding of the Robinson Club GmbH
in 1970, TUI and the Steigenberger Hotel AG, Frankfurt, founded Robinson Club GmbH.
The "Jandia Playa" TUI hotel partner in Fuerteventura opened its doors with the new concept as the first ROBINSON Club on January 1, 1971. From that moment, ROBINSON set out to offer a holiday that was significantly different to other holiday hotels around at the time, initially predominantly to German guests. For a group of guests who wanted more than just sun and sand, but also activities, a new concept was born for a sporty, entertaining and sociable holiday, with or without children, singles or in couples.
In 1974, in Kenya, the first facility designed entirely by ROBINSON was put into operation whereafter further clubs followed all around the Mediterranean and in the Alps. By securing the Steinberger shares in 1989, ROBINSON became a 100 percent subsidiary of TUI.
In 1998, the TUI Holly, an award from TUI guests for the 100 most popular hotels, was awarded to ROBINSON.
In 2000, ROBINSON opened its first ever club in Germany, the ROBINSON CLUB FLEESENSEE in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
In July 2003 the ROBINSON CLUB CALA SERENA in Majorca celebrated its impressive reopening after extensive renovation. With its spacious WellFit oasis covering 2000 sq. m., Club Cala Serena set new standards.
In 2008 ROBINSON expanded its portfolio to 21 facilities: the ROBINSON CLUB AGADIR in Morocco opened its doors at the end of April. In July the opening of the ROBINSON CLUB QUINTA DA RIA in Portugal followed.
Robinson also expanded further in 2009: in addition to the opening of the ROBINSON CLUB SARIGERME PARK in Turkey, the opening of the ROBINSON CLUB MALDIVES in the Maldives in particular was another milestone in ROBINSON's strategy.
In 2012, the company also had ambitious growth plans and welcomed three new facilities to the ROBINSON family. Reopening number 3, the ROBINSON CLUB LANDSKRON in Austria, returned to the portfolio after seven years.
ROBINSON offers families, couples and solo travelers a particularly diverse range of holidays including sport, WellFit, entertainment, golf and the ROBY CLUB for children, all within a warm and friendly atmosphere.
48 percent of ROBINSON guests are families with children, 39 percent are couples and 13 percent are guests traveling alone.
38 percent of ROBINSON's guests are aged between 30 and 39 and 20 percent of guests are between 40 and 49 years of age. A further 12 percent are aged 50 to 59. Under 29s represent 28 percent and the over 60s make up 2 percent of ROBINSON's guests.
ROBINSON holidaymakers belong to a higher income bracket with a higher level of education. The net household income for 30 percent of guests is between 3,000.00€ and 5,000.00€ and for 50 percent of guests it is over 5,000.00€ .
